At Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco (Habitat GSF), we understand there are barriers and inequities in access to homeownership. To help give you the tools to be as prepared as possible to be successful in homeownership, we have developed a Homebuyer Readiness Program that specifically focuses on how to get you ready for homeownership with us.
The Homebuyer Readiness Program is accessible to individuals of all income levels who aim to buy their first home with Habitat GSF. It’s important to note that the workshops, webinars, and newsletters offered by the Homebuyer Readiness Program are separate from the Habitat GSF homeownership application procedure. This program is designed to offer insights and resources for assessing your present financial situation, equipping you with tools to formulate a strategic plan, and ultimately getting you ready for homeownership with us.

Who is the Homebuyer Readiness Program for?
Our program is open to everyone. It is a free service we are providing to help those interested in future homeownership with Habitat GSF learn about what is involved and how to prepare themselves.
What's the difference between the Homebuyer Readiness Program and the Affordable Homeownership Program with Habitat Greater San Francisco?
Our Homebuyer Readiness Program is an educational and information sharing set of webinars and newsletters. While these tools will benefit those seeking to become homeowners, participation is not a substitute for applying.

Do I increase my chances of qualifying for a Habitat GSF home if I participate in the Homebuyer Readiness Program?
We hope so! We hope that by attending these classes, you’ll understand our program and its requirements. It’s our expectation that through learning more about what it means to partner with HGSF, you’ll be more ready when it comes time to apply. By attending, you do not get a special advantage in the lottery. All applicants, regardless of whether or not they participate in the Homebuyer Readiness Program, enter the same lottery at the same level.
Do I have to attend all workshops?
No, you can attend whatever workshops you are interested in. However, it’s best that you attend all of them so that you can fully understand our program.
Do I get sweat equity credit for the future if I attend?
No, we cannot count your attendance as volunteer hours towards sweat equity.
Is there a cost?
No, this program is free to the public.
