A Trusted Nonprofit Partner

“My home was built a long, long time ago. It has been long overdue for repairs. It was really one of the biggest concerns I had because of my health. It’s been really challenging for me to take care of my home and to further complicate things, it’s San Francisco, so it’s really expensive.

The relief from the “yes!” from Habitat was huge for me because it really helped me feel like they valued being part of the SF community and the community could help me get something handled rather than being on my own. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me.

Before the repairs, my house wasn’t ADA compliant yet. I didn’t have access. There was no way for me to get my walker from point A to point B anywhere in my house.

My home was in pieces and so was I, but Habitat helped put it (and me!) back together.

To anyone unsure about it, just do it! What does it hurt to give it a shot and ask, and I understand how easy it can be to focus on the possibility of what could go wrong but it’s just as much an option to think, what if things go right? I would have never guessed that reaching out to Habitat would have gotten me where I am now.”

About the Program
