Amber Drive Dedication Vera Andrew and Son

Vera and Andrew

Being able to remain in the city they’ve lived in for decades is key to Andrew and Vera. They have raised their son here and are looking forward to remaining in the city for the long term.

“I’m most excited for safety, stability, and being able to breathe. Being able to have the key to control how I go in and out – and not have somebody else governing me and my emotions. I can go in and breathe.”

Debra and grandchildren 2

Debra

Debra is a retired teacher and part-time Kinship Facilitator, a role in which she supports others like her who are providing care for other people’s children. A resident of San Francisco since 1969, she is moving into her new three-bedroom home along with her elementary-school-aged grandchildren.

“Being a homeowner is the beginning of a legacy. As a grandmother, having a home gives me peace of mind and harmony. My grandchildren will finally have a place where they can stay for the long term.”

Daricka and sons 3

Daricka

Daricka is a born-and-bred San Franciscan, and she never imagined living anywhere else. She’s also one of the people who keeps our communities running. Daricka works for the city and county, helping her fellow San Franciscans get the services they need such as housing assistance, doctor appointments, and other resources.

“I’m looking forward to this house being my forever home and that I won’t have to leave it. Also, that my kids can witness that we have a little piece of San Francisco and I thought that we would never have a piece of San Francisco. It’s a little piece but we got a piece.
