SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. (September 25, 2025) – today we announced the election of Dave Canny, Vice President of the North Coast Region at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), to our Board of Directors. Canny brings nearly 20 years of customer and operations leadership experience to the board at an important time for Habitat Greater San Francisco as we prepare to break ground on eight new homes in Bolinas and continue planning for the state’s largest 100% affordable homeownership project in Novato.

“I am honored to join the Habitat Greater San Francisco Board and support its mission of helping make the American Dream a reality for far more local families,” he said. “Housing is a human right, which too many in this region and throughout the country are being denied. I look forward to working with Habitat to remove barriers to ownership for our San Francisco and North Bay neighbors and help build stronger, more inclusive communities.”

Since 2006, Canny has led PG&E teams focused on operations, emergency response, and customer-facing program delivery. In his current role, he is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability and quality of service for customers from Marin County to Humboldt County. With his professional work and family life rooted in the North Bay, Canny has developed strong relationships across the region and regularly collaborates with local and regional stakeholders, including serving on the board of the Center for Volunteer and Non-Profit Leadership (CVNL).

“Dave brings deep regional knowledge and operational experience that will strengthen our board as we continue to deliver transformational housing,” said Maureen Sedonaen, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat Greater San Francisco. “Affordable homeownership fundamentally changes lives, improving health and education outcomes, creating financial stability, and building intergenerational wealth. Dave’s leadership and commitment to the North Bay will help us expand those life-changing opportunities for more Bay Area families.”

Canny holds a B.A. in ecology and evolutionary biology from Dartmouth College and a Master of Engineering Management (MAM) degree in resource ecology from Duke University. He previously worked in marine conservation and with the National Ocean Service. He lives in Marin County with his wife and two daughters.
