Let’s stay connected
Sign up for the monthly Habitat GSF newsletter to stay in touch and keep up to date on affordable homebuilding and homeownership in San Francisco, San Mateo & Marin counties.

Every year, we ask our homeowners to verify that you are living in your home and to update your contact information so that we can reach you in case of an emergency.
This process is an important requirement as part of your affordability restrictions, and we strive to make it as easy as possible to complete.

Why am I being asked to fill out the Occupancy Verification?
Habitat GSF homeowners have deed restrictions stating that they must live in their homes as their principal residence. Feedback from homeowners led us to create our Occupancy Verification Policy in 2017 so that we verify that you and your fellow Habitat homeowners are following this part of your deed restrictions.
What happens if I don’t fill out the Occupancy Verification?
If the Occupancy Verification is not filled out and Habitat GSF is concerned that someone is not complying with the policy, we will take the following steps, as well as others we deem necessary:
Additional steps can/may be taken per our guidelines.
What happens if there is a violation?
If we find that there is a violation, the homeowners will have 30 days to remedy the situation. We may exercise our right to first purchase if non-compliance continues or if a homeowner refuses to cooperate with us.
How do I fill out the Occupancy Verification?
Who is a title holder?
A title holder is a person, or people, whose name is on the deed and is the legal owner of the property. If your name is on your Grant Deed and other closing documents, then you are a title holder.
Why does everyone on title need to submit proof of occupancy?
Everyone on title must submit proof of residency because you are the legal owner of the home, and you agreed to the affordability restrictions outlined in your Grant of Option to Repurchase and Resales Restrictions or the addendum to the Grant Deed.
