Christopher Berini Named Chief Development Officer at Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco

San Francisco — August 4, 2025 — Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco (Habitat Greater San Francisco) is proud to announce that Christopher Berini has joined the organization as Chief Development Officer, effective August 4. Berini will lead all fundraising and resource development efforts to support our mission to expand affordable homeownership and fight displacement across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties.

Berini joins Habitat at a critical time, as home prices across the region continue to soar, making homeownership increasingly out of reach for a growing number of local families. The median price for a single-family home is now $1.9 million in Marin County, $1.8 million in San Francisco, and $2.2 million in San Mateo. With more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, and social change, Berini is well-positioned to advance Habitat’s fundraising efforts and support its mission of building more long-term, affordable homeownership opportunities for local families.

“I’m excited to help further Habitat’s impact at a time when the need for affordable homeownership in the Bay Area has never been greater,” said Berini. “Homeownership is a powerful tool for building stronger, more inclusive communities, and I’m excited to support the organization’s efforts to ensure more local families can stay in the neighborhoods they love and create lasting stability for the next generation.”

Berini most recently served as Chief Advancement Officer at United Way Bay Area, and prior to that, held senior fundraising leadership roles at Opportunity Fund and San Francisco AIDS Foundation. He served as a community and media consultant for the Kaiser Family Foundation, and earlier in his career held positions at IBM, Lenovo, and Genentech.

“We’re thrilled to welcome such a seasoned development leader with a strong track record in both philanthropy and strategic growth,” said Maureen Sedonaen, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. “Christopher’s expertise comes at a pivotal moment, as Bay Area home prices continue to rise and the supply of affordable homes remains critically low. His expertise will help us secure the resources needed to ensure more Bay Area families can stay in their neighborhoods, build generational wealth, and access the life-changing benefits that homeownership provides.”

Berini holds a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed the New Strategies program at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He lives in San Francisco with his husband and their child.
